Information for parents, family and whanau

What is an ITO?

ITOs (industry training organisations) help people achieve NZQA-recognised qualifications on the job. ITOs are great sources of information about apprenticeships and industry training. Some ITOs may also be able to advise about job vacancies in their industry.

Contact an ITO

There are over 40 ITOs covering a wide range of industries including service, manufacturing, primary industries (such as agriculture), and trades. Contact the ITO for an industry that your child may be interested in to see what they can offer.

  • set national skill standards for their industry
  • develop and arrange education and training for their industry
