Career Services' privacy and security policy
Career Services complies with the Privacy Act of 1993. The objectives of the Privacy Act include:
- promoting and protecting individual privacy
- establishing principles for collecting, using, and disclosing information about individuals
- establishing principles for allowing each individual access to information about them that is held by public and private sector agencies, and
- providing for the appointment of a privacy commissioner to investigate complaints about interferences with individual privacy.

Your privacy on the Internet is important to us. Because the Internet offers the ability to collect certain information about you, we want you to understand the terms and conditions surrounding the capture, storage and use of information we gather. To that end, this privacy policy discloses what information we gather, security measures we take, how we store, how we use, and how to correct your personal information.
Information we gather when visiting our web site
When you use our website we do not collect any personal information from you unless you give it to us voluntarily. However, some information is automatically provided to us when you access our website (information stored in the IP header). This includes:

Registering with Career Services via online chat
The information you submit to Career Services as part of the log-in process is used to help us understand your needs and interests as well as to help us provide you with better services.
Specifically the information will be used to effectively communicate with you, help you complete an information request, ensure you enter your personal information only once, create content that is most relevant to you and provide you with relevant service and support.
Career Services respects your privacy and will not sell, rent, lease or lend any identifiable information obtained about you via any of our communication mechanisms (including telephone, online chat, email and fax) to anyone. We maintain a secure process for collection, transmission, and storage of your personal information.
Protecting your personal information
When you purchase products from our site, you need to provide us with personal information, including your credit-card details.
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Digital certificates are used to protect your personal information as it is transmitted over the Internet. The digital certificates used by Career Services use 128-bit encrypted for the following browsers:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 and later browsers
- Netscape communicator 4.7 and later browsers.
Older or other browsers will still create a secure SSL, however, the level of encryption is dependent on the browser.
How to tell if a server is secure
Look for one or more of these ‘secure connection' indicators on your browser:
- a security alert window tells you that you are about to use a secure connection. Some browsers let you choose whether to display this window.
- an SSL icon shows when you're in a secure connection:
- a symbol of an open padlock changes to a closed padlock when you're in a secure connection.
- a symbol of a "broken key" icon is replaced by an unbroken key.
- the website's address changes to one that begins with "https" (check for the "s").

When you visit Career Services website, your personal information are stored on the site in a secure environment. This is so you can review your personal information and update it as necessary.

Storing your personal information
When you subscribe to Career Services your personal information is stored on the Site in a secure server. This is so you can view and update it as necessary. Your personal information is only able to be accessed by entering your username and password.

- supply what you want or give you the access you need: for example, if you want to subscribe to " Career Edge" our magazine or purchase any other product from us; receive one of our email newsletters; or contact us
