How to get into on-the-job training?
There are many ways to enter on-the-job training. The two most common ways are:
1. An employee decides on a qualification or course and speaks to their employer about whether the employer might be willing to support their study or allow some time off each week to study. Most employers prefer to see some research and hear good reasons why someone wants to be trained. A demonstration of being able to juggle study and work priorities is a good idea.
2. An employer wants someone to get qualified in a certain subject area and proposes to pay for, or subsidises the course fees.
What does on-the-job training cost?
Large organisations may sometimes offer financial support to their employees for professional development. Your child could speak to their employer about their options and find out what can be done for them. There may be the possibility of a student loan. Check this with the educational provider.
An employer may pay or subsidise the course fees if it relates to the job. Course fees vary.
