Research reports from Careers New Zealand

Note: Careers New Zealand was formerly known as Career Services. The documents listed below refer to our previous name.

Rethinking Career Education in Schools: Foundations for a New Zealand framework (PDF - 610KB)
This report was prepared in 2009 as part of the review and enhancement of the support Careers New Zealand  provides to schools. It provides an outline of how effective career education programmes might be developed in New Zealand.

This report is currently being used to reframe the work Careers New Zealand does to support career education in schools. It is intended to be the start of an ongoing dialogue about ideas, evidence and practice in career education.

Career guidance by telephone - an emerging model of practice (PDF - 245KB)
Career guidance by telephone - a valuable tool for experienced consultants (PDF - 151KB)
In 2007 Career Services piloted career guidance by telephone to identify if it should form part of its suite of integrated career services offered to young people making tertiary, trade training or career decisions.

Based on its successful pilot outcomes, Career Services began to deliver telephone guidance as part of its integrated suite of all-age career information, advice and guidance services.
