What is Pathfinder?

Pathfinder is one of the key career guidance tool on the Career Services website. It consists of articles and activities to assist you to explore your career direction and plan your future.

You can build a personal profile by completing questionnaires on your interests, skills, education and preferred work conditions. Pathfinder uses your personal profile to generate a range of career ideas. The introduction page provides links to further information to assist you in using Pathfinder.

Why should I use Pathfinder?

You can go straight to our career information section to research or browse career related information. However, there are some important benefits to using Pathfinder. Once you have finished the About Me and Get Career Ideas sections and Career Favourites are generated, these are linked to the relevant occupations in our Job Info section. Also, when you are logged on to Pathfinder, you can add to your personal Career Favourites from any occupation page.

• compare career ideas
• define your career direction, set goals and plan your action steps.

Why do I have to register my details to use Pathfinder?

By registering your details, you will be able to save your information so that you can return to review, change or add to it at any time. Your information is private and is not used for any other purpose. Registering your details to use Pathfinder is free.

Why do I have to pick an age/stage to create a profile?

By choosing an age/stage in Pathfinder, you will be presented with information suitable for your age group. You can change your age/stage by clicking on your user name on any page within Pathfinder. This opens a menu, Change My Details, allowing you to select a different age/stage.
