Research into outcomes from career intervention
19 October 1999
We have prepared for you this information pack of data from our ACNielsen research.
The research provides solid evidence of value of career planning.
Our labour market is highly dynamic. Every year 200,000 jobs are created and 150,000 destroyed. The average person will go through 12 jobs and four career changes in their lifetime.
Globalisation and technological change mean that to succeed jobseekers have to be flexible, upskill, and very responsive to labour market trends.
Therefore, people today have to proactively manage their employability and careers.
Career planning is a important, life long activity. The result of good planning is that people will maximise their skills for the benefit of themselves, their employers and the economy.
Career planning has a valuable role to play in the "knowledge economy" and it has important effect on individual's lives.
