Whānau decision-making project - he hanga riki kaupapa hei mahi a whānau
The aim of the whānau decision-making pilot is to better understand how Career Services can work with Māori whānau.
The pilot programme involves working with 40 Māori whānau in the Manawatu and Whakatu (Nelson) regions from May to November 2009. Three government agencies are involved in the project - the Ministry of Education, Te Puni Kokiri (Ministry of Māori Development) and Career Services.
The pilot will be evaluated externally. Based on the evaluation report findings, Career Services will work on developing culturally appropriate and effective approaches and practice models for assisting whānau decision-making in work and learning.
