How to put transferable skills into your CV

- You can gain valuable transferable skills by getting involved in outdoor activities
Once you have identified your transferable skills you can put them in your CV.
You must also prove you have the transferable skills by giving examples of when you have used them. You can do this by giving examples which connect them to what the employer is looking for.
Here are some examples:
Example 1
- Example of transferable skill
"I can work confidently under pressure." - How I use the skill
"I always hand my assignments in on time, even though I have a part time job." - What this says to the employer
"If I can work under pressure and still make deadlines, I will be able to take on new challenges with confidence."
Example 2
- Example of transferable skill
"I like to achieve my goals." - How I use the skill
"I have won two triathlons and am aiming to enter the Taupo Ironman this year." - What this says to the employer
"I always set and achieve goals, so I am sure I will rise to the challenge of settling into my new role quickly and rise to demands given to me."
Example 3
- Example of transferable skill
"I am able to motivate others" - How I use the skill
"I have been captain of my netball team for the past three years and also take responsibility for organising all training events. - What this says to the employer
"If I can keep my netball team on track and motivated, I know I can contribute to your team."
