Community Outreach
Career Services is funded by Government to help community organisations build up their knowledge of how people can access career-related products and services.
This year around 200 community/iwi groups throughout New Zealand will receive a session on the value and role of career information, advice and guidance, and how to access services on behalf of clients.
Around a quarter of these are Māori/iwi groups, such as local marae, iwi authorities, trust boards and Māori private training establishments.
If your community group would benefit from this service, you can contact your local Career Services' office. A Kaitohutohu/Career Consultant from your local area will discuss with you the various ways we might be involved in the work you do.
For example, we might:
- give presentations to your staff, stakeholders or volunteers
- run hands-on sessions on how to use career resources
- provide input at hui or forums on education and employment
- attend events that might benefit your community
- show how we provide information and advice to groups.
The key objectives of the community outreach sessions are to:
- Demonstrate to community groups the value of careers information, advice and guidance for their clients
- Develop their understanding of how to access career information, advice and guidance.
