Career action plans
Once the planning process is complete, your career action plan will establish what needs to be done and by when and how to establish milestones and review progress.
An effective career plan contains:
- a clear statement of a career goal and a list of career objectives
- a summary of your values, interests and influences
- a list of your current skills and qualifications and any additional skills you still need to acquire
- any personal development strategies planned
- action plans.
Assessment tools used during career planning
Our career consultants use a range of tests to measure people's skills, values and interests. These include card sorts, written questionnaires and computer-based assessment.
Career planning for Māori – Rapua te ara tika mou ake
Each of our offices has Māori Career consultants (Kaitohutohu) to assist Māori with career planning. They are available to assist individual clients with career planning services or organise group workshops. Career Services is committed to working in co-operative partnerships and relationships with Māori.
